After I finally got my green cardin the mail, I applied for a change in my passport status (from a Taiwanese Resident to a Taiwanese Foreign National). In January 2004 I booked a flight back to Taiwan for Chinese New Year's to spend time with my family - first time in 17 years... Since I wasn't able to attend my mother's funeral in 2000 this is the first time I got to visit my mother's burial place in Jin Shan.
